Beat 26
River Eden, Warwick Holme
4 Tokens
Grayling
Wading Difficulty 2
16th October to 14th January
1.1km of left bank fishing
RIVER EDEN: This is an arcing stretch of the lower river Eden, with deep pools and long runs, which starts just below beat 25, it also has plenty of casting space from its open banks.
STOCKS: As with beat 25 there should be plenty of grayling here which are not fished for regularly, so seek out the best runs and try fishing with something pink!
ACCESS AND DIRECTIONS: Heading north along the M6 towards Carlisle, pull off at junction 43 and take the last exit for the A69 (the first if you are south bound). Continue along this road for around 3km then take a left turn at Warwick on-Eden.
Continue on this road which bears left for just under 2km. At the little T-junction turn right, the track then bears left slightly and continues for 1km, then take a small right turn down towards the river. There is then a cattle grid and gateway, the token box is located here on the post and rail fence.
There are no beat signs on this stretch of the river so carefully study the Go Wild fishing map which is also affixed to the fence, this shows where the beat starts and finishes. The parking sign is also located here but be sure not to park in front of any gateways so as not to restrict the farmer’s access. From here you can walk down to the river’s edge along the track and fish up or down stream. |
