Grayling
Wading Difficulty 2
16th October to 14th January
1.6km of left bank fishing
RIVER EDEN: This is another top beat on the lower reach of the river Eden for grayling. This is a long beat which covers over 1.5km of the main river Eden; the main fishery is for salmon so the grayling fishing currently is at a low intensity. This is an open, relatively straight part of the Eden making fly fishing and accessibility extremely easy.
STOCKS: There are good numbers of grayling, which are not frequently fished for, but when they are, plenty have been caught and to a good size.
ACCESS & DIRECTIONS: Heading north along the M6 towards Carlisle, pull off at junction 43 and take the last (the first if you are south bound) exit for the A69. Continue along this road for around 3km then take a left turn at Warwick on-Eden. Continue on this road which bears left for 1.5km, then take a right turn onto a small track which runs straight through the middle of a field. Follow this track down to the river and park near the fishing hut. The Token box is located on the front of the fishing hut, from here you can fish upstream to the Beat End sign or down to the Beat Start sign. There is a map of the beat in the fishing hut.
