Trout Beck: Bridge End Farm
2 Tokens
Brown Trout & Possible Grayling
Wading Difficulty 1
Nearly 1km of both double and single bank fishing.
Trout Beck
One Farm down from Beat 6, this long stretch of the Trout Beck meanders across the Eden flood plain. There should be some good fish here, perhaps even the odd grayling escaping a flood in the main river.
Stocks
We don’t know! Some good fish have been taken upstream and down. Please let us know.
Access and Directions
This beat is particularly easy to get to, when heading east along the A66 from Penrith you will come to the village of Kirkyby Thore, continue through the village and over the bridge, around 200m past the bridge is a petrol station, turn left hear and park in the lay-by opposite the petrol station. When parking ensure there is sufficient access for large vehicles to both gateways!
Walk down the track towards the bridge, from here you can fish up or down stream. The Token box will be located on the left handside of the track (downstream) attached to the Inside of the wooden fence parallel to the river. Following the river downstream here will take you to just above the A66 road bridge which is signed Beat End on both sides. Fishing along this stretch is double banked.
Turning right at the track before the bridge will take you upstream and towards the top of the beat. Fishing here is double sided for around 650m, there is a Beat End sign on the left hand bank where the double bank fishing finishes (see Map). There is then a further 330m of single right handed river bank when looking upstream. At the end of this section there is another Beat End sign.
